Sherwood, Oregon has been very good to my family. We moved here as a small family of 4 in 2003. We have grown, along with Sherwood, into a family of 7. My wife, Sarah, is a coach and a teacher. My children have attended many of the Sherwood schools and have been active in performing arts, sports and community events. I believe in giving back and helping to ensure that it remains a special place for future generations.

I know that there are major things facing our world and our country, but right now, I want to work in my local area to help solve local problems. I do not have answers to all of the problems that face our community, but as a Product Manager, I have been trained how to find those answers.

Here is my decision making process:

  1. Ask the community for their top local problems

  2. Prioritize problems

  3. Ask the community to validate prioritized list

  4. Define what we will measure to determine success

  5. Rely on experts to provide estimates on the most efficient way to solve the problems

  6. Ask the community if the proposed solution will solve the problem

  7. Adjust prioritized list to balance quick wins and long term thinking

  8. Communicate to the community the plan

  9. Budget resources for highest value solutions

  10. Ensure that the solution that was promised is delivered on time and within budget

  11. Communicate to the community whether success criteria was met

As you can see, the citizens of Sherwood play a key part in my decision making process.

Here are some things that I would like to work on in Sherwood:

  • HEAL from COVID

    • Help families and local businesses recover from COVID-19 and attract new businesses to balance the tax base and provide local jobs

  • CONNECT Sherwood

    • Connect Sherwood virtually through expansion of Sherwood Broadband to more residents for better and cheaper Internet options

    • Connect Sherwood physically through improved trails, bicycle lanes and paths, and safer options to cross Highway 99

  • GROW Responsibly

    • Maintain Sherwood as a premier destination for families and provide housing, services and amenities for all our citizens in all phases of their lives
